You have now reached the most
exciting stage of Effective Thinking: training your subconscious mind to create
the conditions that will allow you to achieve your objectives with less effort
and more effectively. You are about to learn the practical applications of Effective
Thinking Principles 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 in creating a life full of opportunities,
success, and personal satisfaction. Before we apply them, let’s review the
Principles briefly.
Principle 1 of Effective
Thinking stated that our sole purpose in life is to achieve goals and that we
are constantly involved in this task, consciously or subconsciously. Principle
2 extended this concept, stating that nothing is pre-written and that to a
significant degree we are responsible for manufacturing our own destiny, which
we do from moment to moment in making choices and implementing our decisions;
everything we do has an ulterior intention of achieving particular goals. Principle
4 then asserted that we possess an inborn goal-achieving mechanism that
operates at subconscious levels, and that everything we do is directed by this
inner process to attain the goals we feed through from our thinking. Principle
5 was that we live primarily in a subconscious world and that the mental
representations imbedded in this inner world manufacture our beliefs and the
means to achieve our goals. Finally, Principle 6 stated that we can
modify the contents of our subconscious by thinking and visualizing our goals,
mentally creating the ideal world.
All these principles contribute
to a powerful psychological technique: the ability to create your own opportunities.
The results of the Visualization Technique might be the closest thing to
real-life miracles you will ever experience; it allows you to generate opportunities
for yourself, simply by creating these occurrences in your own imagination and
then reinforcing them in your subconscious mind using visualization. This
strategy harnesses the power of the mind, empowering you to create mental
images that become reality in front of your eyes.
........................
The basic rationale of
visualization is to create, in your imagination, what you want to see happening
in reality, regardless of what reality currently looks like. Your intention is
to use mind power to generate the means to change reality to match your
visualizations; your visualizations will provide these means effectively, helping
you make optimum use of opportunities that fit the images you visualize. What you
visualize is already in the process of becoming reality, and you actively
contribute to making the relevant opportunities.
If you blindly follow reality, you make progress unnecessarily difficult, because you leave yourself completely at the mercy of circumstances instead of contributing to them with the power of your own imagination. But if you transport yourself into your own future and bring it into the present by imagining it, by creating a mental representation of the ideal world, then you gear your subconscious goal-achievement system to act upon these images and obtain these objectives. In essence, you are creating the opportunity to attain what you visualize.
